BAWA was unofficially started in mid eighties. The constitution of the association was first registered n 1984 as a non profit organisation.

The constitution was further amended in 2000 mainly to eliminate the hierarchy of power among the committee members.

The goal of the Bengali Association of Western Australia is to

Promote and provide quality educational, socal and cultural activities within the Bengali Community.

Create awareness of the Bengali culture and Educational activities in the
Western Australia.

Provide community Service within Western Australia.

Provide a platform for Social and Business Networking.

Promote the involvement of youth in various programs.

Promote cooperative programs with other community services and organisations.
